I'm just coming through just an incredibly intense period in my work life, namely because I have been working on completing my book manuscript by the end of August. It's been an all-consuming, emotional project that involved all of me. I'm proud of the work I've completed, but it didn't come without a ton of stress and anxiety. I tend to take on a lot at one time and try to do it all.
When I do this over and over again, I tend to run out of steam and then “crash” at some level. I get to a place where I am so exhausted and so tired, and I've come through this a couple of times in my life, and I've realized that it's a pattern for me.
It's a pattern that I want to change, and as a part of my wanting to integrate my life, I need to do a better job of managing the stress. I also want to get better at saying no, because if I'm working on something super essential for me too, like this book project, it means some other things have to give. I've got to be able to tell people no. I want to be able to find a better rhythm for that so that I don't get myself into a place where I'm so exhausted, so tired, that I have to regroup for 3 - 4 days.
The second thing I'm planning on doing is hiring an executive assistant to help keep me organized. I've gone without an administrative assistant for a long time, and with the book coming out in early 2019, it'll be vital for me to be on my "A" game.
So those are a few things that I'm doing to try to reduce my stress and anxiety, and I hope this encourages you to think about how you can reduce stress and anxiety in your own life.
